Self-Inquiry Tip of the Day ::

Yesterday, while spending time at Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens, everything became so clear. I’ve been trying to force myself into a role that is not truly mine. A role that I inherited from someone else’s script. These labels that I’ve applied to myself are what I thought the world wanted from me plus I could make material wealth from them. Now I see the Truth.

One of the most difficult lessons for me to learn is connected to today’s star of wisdom (Jyeshtha). I’ve always had the tendency to fight myself. I push down the mysterious and try to hide what lies beneath the surface. Instead of considering the natural gifts I have to share, I look instead to what niche I could fill in the world. I’ve been a bit too rough with myself; not very compassionate at all. I understand now that I must welcome my subtle abilities. Even if others may not be ready to see them, I must express them. All of my life experiences have taught me something. Real Truth can’t be defeated no matter how much you shove it away or how many masks you place on top of it or how many lies you use to try to change it. Truth is freedom.

What’s your true Truth? Are you really a teacher, are you really a writer, are you really a business executive, are you really an artist, are you really a traveler, are you really a homemaker, are you really a health care worker, are you really a ___________, are you really who you think you are? Or are you merely doing what you think the world wants from you, what you think your family wants from you, what you think will bring you the most material wealth, what you think you want from you? It’s time to leave all that behind to see what the universe has in store for you. I promise, its so much grander than all these other ideas you have for yourself.

Still one of my favorite bits of wisdom from the Tao Te Ching… ‘If you want to be given everything, give everything up.’ Understanding that logically is one aspect but embodying it is something else altogether. I finally get it. In order to become who you Truly are, you must let go of who you think you are and all these ideas you’ve collected about yourself. Let the grand adventure begin!

I'd love to hear your thoughts...
